Often, it's hard to get started on that thing we need to do, not because we aren't motivated to do it, but because we feel anxious about it. We're worried about the potential unpleasantness that will come, so we put it off. Mindfulness can help.

Mindfulness is the practice of remaining aware of the present moment and taking in what it has to offer, rather than dwelling on the past or future.

Then, realistically consider how it will feel to take action. Most of the time, the thing that we're putting off won't be bad at all. We've just hyped it up in our heads and are making it worse by not acting on it. Taking action will make you feel better.

Allow yourself to connect with your thoughts and feelings, rather than ignoring them. It's easier to get started once you've acknowledged what's going on.
